Free Community Boating Days

Join us for Free Community boating days at FDR Park. We provide instruction and support for you and your family to get out and enjoy a day on the water. We have rowboats, kayaks, and canoes.

All ages are welcome, but kids must be accompanied by a guardian. No experience is needed and no pre-registration.

Boating Dates for 2026: 

Saturdays 10-1:30 PM: March 21 and 28, April 11, April 25 (Spring Fair), May 2, May 9 and 30, June 13, June 18, July 25, August 1, August 8

September 12 and 26, October 3, 10, and 17th (Fall Fair)

Free Family Fishing

 

Join us to learn and try fishing, right here in South Philly. We provide rods, bait, and instruction. All ages are welcome

Fishing is on Wednesdays From 4-6:30 PM.

Every Wednesday from April 22nd to August 5th and
September 16-October 28th. 

The lakes are cleaner and fish include bass, catfish, sunfish/ bluegill, carp, and more.

Community Health Fairs & Family Fun Days

April 25th, 10:00am - 1:30pm is our Spring Health Fair

Discovery Pathways’ Health Fairs and Family Fun Days bring families together for free, joyful, and culturally welcoming wellness experiences in local parks and community spaces. Events include free fresh produce, healthy meals, yoga, Zumba, art activities, outdoor movement, and hands-on environmental learning. Families also connect with trusted local health resources, community organizations, and youth leaders who provide multilingual support and guidance.

Every event is free, beginner-friendly, and open to all.

Group Visits

We host educational and recreational visits for schools, camps, youth groups, and more. Visits are focused on hands-on engaging science and interactive learning. Visits can include boating, fishing, nature exploration, water quality, and more.

Scholarships are available for public school groups, especially those from South Philly or underserved communities. We are committed to breaking down barriers to environmental education.
